ElekChek uses the VisaNet Access Point (VAP) system as a gateway for passing authorization traffic for all major credit cards into VisaNet. All direct-connect vendors such as ElekChek, along with hundreds of banks and credit card processors, use this same VAP technology for authorization processing on the VisaNet Network. However, only ElekChek and its customers can obtain Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) direct connectivity into the VisaNet backbone.

With the ElekChek system working for you, no intervening processor, company, or computing system stands between you and the processing network that handles your authorization needs. The VAP is the gateway into VisaNet and the endpoint of an application using the VisaNet Interchange Point (V.I.P.) authorization system. Authorization service is available for Visa, MasterCard, Novus (Discover), American Express, Diners, Carte Blanche, JCB, private label cards, and various on-line debit regional networks. ElekChek presently processes only Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express cards simply due to customer demand.

The VAP routes transactions to the two U.S. VisaNet authorization centers in San Mateo, CA and McLean, VA.
